AGBEDE APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF PITTSBURGH’S FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD
Robert O. Agbede, President and CEO of Chester Engineers, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was recently appointed Chairman of the Board of the Pittsburgh Office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland for 2007. Mr. Agbede has served as a director of the Pittsburgh Office since January 2002.
Serving on several boards during his career, Mr. Agbede is the former Chairman of the African-American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania and a board member of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.
Mr. Agbede’s company, Chester Engineers, is the largest municipal engineering services firm in the western Pennsylvania region and the nation’s largest African-American owned firm in its field. With approximately 200 employees, Chester Engineers has expanded its operations and opened offices in Atlanta, GA; Baltimore, MD; Columbus, OH; Jacksonville, FL; Martinsburg, WV; Miami, FL; New Orleans, LA; and Richmond, VA.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Engineering, Mr. Agbede is recognized as a member of Pitt’s prestigious Engineering Hall of Fame. He also established the Robert O. Agbede Scholarship and the Robert O. Agbede Diversity Award which, respectively, provide monetary support to African-American engineering students and financial rewards to engineering departments promoting diversity programs for recruiting, hiring, and retaining qualified African-American faculty members.
Chester Engineers, Inc. also provides scholarships and fellowships for undergraduate and graduate engineering students through its endowments at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.
