Chester Engineers appoints vice president, corporate communications

PITTSBURGH, PA – (June 15, 2007) -- Robert O. Agbede, president and CEO of Chester Engineers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Edwina L. Kaikai to the position of vice president, corporate communications and public relations. She is responsible for coordinating the Pittsburgh-based firm’s internal and external communications efforts. 

An award-winning journalist, Ms. Kaikai brings to Chester 30 years of journalistic experience. She was a reporter and assistant regional editor for The Pittsburgh Press and an entertainment writer/assistant editor for Jet magazine in Chicago.  For the past 14 years she was an editor at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, serving as metropolitan editor, assistant managing editor/features, assistant managing editor/suburban living and, most recently, assistant managing editor/special assignments.  

She is past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors and co-founder, former co-director of the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation’s Frank Bolden Urban Journalism Workshop.  She is an active member in those organizations, as well as The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania and several civic, social and fraternal organizations.

As vice president of corporate communications, Ms. Kaikai’s responsibilities include facilitating Chester’s response to inquiries from the media and general public.
