Operate And Maintain Ambient Air Monitoring Stations

Client:US Department of Energy (DOE)
Location:Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Chester Engineers is under contract to the US-DOE to manage Ambient Particulate (PM2.5) Sampling and Analysis in conjunction with the Upper Ohio River Valley Project (UORVP). This represents the largest component of the DOE ambient PM2.5 monitoring activities.

The sites are located in an area encompassing eastern Ohio, northwestern West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania.

These sites are equipped with a variety of instrumentation necessary for the collection and analysis of the chemical, size, and time-resolved characteristics of aerosol, gas-phase, and biological particulate matter. Sampling will be carried out over an extended time frame (i.e., two or more years) and will be supplemented with intensive sampling periods during seasonal and meteorological regimes.

Chester Engineers is responsible for all equipment maintenance and operation. Each station is routinely visited to perform calibrations, sample collection and equipment checks to insure the quality of the data produced.
