Turnkey GIS Implementation in Moon Township

Provided turnkey GIS design and implementation services in a combined project for both the Township and Municipal Authority. The project included the completion of GPS surveys of water distribution, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer facilities, conversion of parcel mapping, and registration to the existing Allegheny County land base. Over 1,000,000 feet of water mains and sewer lines were mapped. The locations of more than 5,800 sewer laterals were mapped. Over 12,000 point features (water valves and hydrants, sanitary sewer manholes, and storm sewer manholes and catch basins) were mapped using GPS. The GIS database features were linked to scanned images of valve cards and lateral records to facilitate access to this information and support field locating the features. Chester Engineers is currently under contract to provide on-going data base maintenance and support. One key aspect of this maintenance contract consists of updating the Allegheny County land base to reflect new development.
