Beaverdam Branch Basin Comprehensive Sewer Study

Client:Prince George's County
Location:Prince George's County and Washington DC
Objective:
  • Update the existing GIS data from GPS survey, H&H modeling, and field inspection data (manhole inspections, CCTV inspections, smoke testing, dye testing, and flow metering).
  • Integrate field inspection results into the GIS geodatabase and GBA Master Series® asset management system.
  • Create automated interface between the GBA Master Series® database and ArcGIS geodatabase for field inspections using the mobile GIS technology.
  • Extract InfoWorks® model input parameter from GIS for H&H modeling.

Solution
Our main project tasks include H&H modeling and GIS integration. GIS tasks were designed to ensure coordinated sharing, use, and transmission of location based data with WSSC\s GIS Department. We created a GIS geodatabase using ESRI's ArcGIS® 9.0 software. The GIS database was designed to support the combination of future flow and capacity needs analysis, Infiltration/Inflow (I/I) analysis, Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES), and an inventory, prioritization, and plan for addressing exposed sewer pipes. We created a field map book for field inspections. Our GIS scope also included creating GIS maps for Prince George's County DER and project's community outreach, and public involvement programs.
